From the Chairs

Dear Invited guests, friends and Colleagues,

It is my honour to welcome you to the upcoming 7th Annual SWAAC ELSO Conference to be hosted in Johannesburg, South Africa from 20th to 22nd February 2020. This conference provides a platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences and to develop meaningful relationships.

Several specialists within the South African environment have worked tirelessly at the development, quality improvement and education surrounding ECMO for a number of years. This hard work has resulted in us being invited to host this prestigious conference.

We warmly invite you to spend a few days with Key Opinion Leaders from various fields as they share their experiences in a hands-on manner that will hopefully inspire further development and growth of this form of Advanced Critical Care throughout South Africa as well as the SWAAC region.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It gives me tremendous pleasure to invite you to the upcoming 7th Annual SWAAC ELSO conference 2020. We are very excited at the opportunity to meet with world-class leaders not only in our region of South and West Asia and Africa but also globally to discuss issues in extracorporeal live support (ECLS) delivery facing us today.

Locally there seems to be a hiatus not only between the private and public sectors but more so a lack of understanding the exact extent of ECMO delivery nationally. We hope that this Congress will not only add to your daily management of ECMO patients but will also bring us together on a National basis to share Expertise, Experience as well as Training. To this end, we are enthused to hold 7 pre-congress hands-on workshops covering a variety of topics related to ECLS.

In our resource-limited Health Care Environment, it is pivotal that we deliver ECLS at the highest level to optimise not only our patients' outcomes but also to conserve precious funding for this advanced critical care modality.

We look forward to meeting and seeing you at this Congress.

UBUNTU - we can learn form each other.
