SWAAC ELSO 2020
Extracorporeal life support (ECLS) has become a standard of care for the most critically of ill patients being treated in ICU. The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO), an international non-profit organisation, seeks to guide and support the delivery of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) globally.
The South West Asia and Africa Chapter (SWAAC) is the newest and the most rapidly growing subdivision of ELSO. Originating in India and now representing more than 14 countries within these joint regions, it is a huge honour for South Africa to host the 7th SWAAC ELSO Conference.
The Annual meeting of SWAAC ELSO is an opportunity for the local and international community to come and share their knowledge, experience and humanity and learn from each other. Although we have made great strides in the past decade in South Africa, this conference will serve to bring role players in ECLS delivery on a national basis together to not only share their experience but also to strategise the way forward in this, a challenging economic environment.
The 7th SWAAC ELSO Annual Meeting will be held in Johannesburg at the Indaba Hotel between the 20th – 22nd February 2020 and will encompass the theme of Ubuntu.
Ubuntu - what we can learn from each other
The developing and developed worlds meet
The program aims to provide a holistic view of advanced critical care, ECMO delivery, including basic and advanced knowledge, sharing of various experiences and challenges including the establishment of new centres and the improvement of current programs.
The organising committee has submitted to Ethical MedTech which we are excited to announce has been granted full Compliant status.
Without the support of the medical and device industry, it would not be possible to host such a meeting and allow for the continued professional development and skills transfer
