Asma Salloo is a paediatric intensivist currently working at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Soweto, Johannesburg. She obtained her medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand and has completed a Fellowship in Paediatrics as well as a Certificate in Paediatric Critical Care from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. She completed a fellowship in ECMO at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto in 2019.
In addition to clinical work, Asma has a keen interest in medical education and is an APLS (Advanced Paediatric Life Support) instructor and runs the Paediatric BASIC ICU course. She is also passionate about improving general medical and critical care for all children.
She has a special interest in Humanitarian aid, and has been on a number of national and international relief missions as part of Gift of the Givers medical team, a local NGO involved in disaster relief.
